Baotou, Inner Mongolia – Huiteng Energy Chemical is planning a 600kT/year EG (ethylene glycol) plant with CNY 8.9bn ($1.4bn) investment. The project passed local government’s environmental assessment in December.
The facilities will be located in a 1.2m m² plot at Turned Right Banner Shangejia Chemical Park in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, 30 km from the nearest coal mine. It sits close to national highways and has nearby railroad in the pipeline.
According to the assessment report, construction of the plant will start in April 2016 and full operation is slated in October 2018. The project will create 500 jobs and bring in CNY 1.5bn annual net profit when in operation.
Products and by-products of the plant will supply to downstream companies in the area, including fine chemical factories to be built in the same park, said the report.
