Rock Hill, South Carolina -- 3D Systems Corp. has acquired the assets of Moeller Design, a provider of casting services and prototyping for aerospace, medical device and mechanical computer-aided design prototypes.
Terms were not disclosed. Moeller, based in Seattle, operates one of the largest proprietary polyurethane cast production facilities in North America, according to 3D Systems.
Moeller makes low-volume production-quality parts and prototypes. Moeller also is a leading manufacturer of QuickCast precision casting patterns - a proprietary process developed by 3D Systems.
The QuickCast process uses stereolithography as an alternative to traditional wax patters for casting complex parts.
3D Systems, based in Rock Hill, offers 3-D printing, rapid prototyping and manufacturing systems and parts.
Dave Moeller, owner of Moeller Design, has joined 3D Systems as general manager of its 3Dproparts premium services division, and he will continue to be based on the West Coast.
