Arizona, US – 3Z Brands has expanded its mattress-making capabilities with the acquisition of Southerland. Nashville-based Southerland will retain its brand identity, operating alongside 3Z’s existing portfolio of sleep brands, including Brooklyn Bedding, Helix, Birch, Bear, Nolah and Leesa.
Southerland has been making mattresses for brick-and-mortar retailers since 1893. It has four manufacturing facilities, in Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee, serving wholesale customers in 43 states.
3Z is a vertically integrated manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer and direct-to-consumer distributor of sleep products. It will now start to integrate the four Southerland facilities into its network, with the Nashville, Tennessee location becoming the company’s East Coast e-commerce hub. Significant capital investment in the facilities is being planned, 3Z said.
“We’re excited to welcome another highly respected brand to the 3Z family,” said John Merwin, 3Z Brands’ CEO. “The acquisition of Southerland enables the strategic expansion of our nationwide manufacturing footprint, positioning 3Z to serve a new group of wholesale customers from a geographic perspective while also reducing delivery costs and timelines for our e-commerce customers.”
