Washington, DC – Bob Patel, LyondellBasell Industries' CEO, is the new chairman of the American Chemistry Council's (ACC) board.
Patel was previously vice chairman. He chaired its finance, audit and membership committee. These roles have been taken over by Mark Vergnano, president and CEO of Chemours
‘As chief executive of one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals, and refining companies, Bob possesses the insight and expertise to drive the continued expansion and prosperity of American chemistry in a global manufacturing future,’ said ACC president and CEO Cal Dooley.
‘His fiscal, strategic, and operational discipline; together with his leadership, will help ensure ACC’s continued success,’ Dooley added.
ExxonMobil Chemical’s president John Verity will chair the board chemical management committee.
The board also approved Wanhua Chemical (America), one of the world’s largest isocyanate producers, as a regular member.
