Washington, DC - The American Chemistry Council (ACCC) has appointed Lee Salamone as senior director of the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI), with effect from 9 Dec.
The appointment marks Salamone's return to ACC, which she formerly served as a director on its public health and policy team. Salamone also has worked as a public affairs consultant with the Silicones Environmental, Health and Safety Council of North America and, most recently, as a senior consultant with AcuTech Consulting Group.
ACC and its plastics division will gain tremendously from the extensive experience Salamone brings in science and regulatory policy development; advocacy and federal legislative affairs; and in building alliances among diverse stakeholder groups, said the ACC in a 23 Nov announcement. Ms. Salamone will be responsible for day-to-day management of CPI, working closely with thee steering and management committees, as well as other trade associations and the customer community to promote the many benefits of polyurethane and the strengths of this industry, ACC's statement added.
"As opportunities continue to expand worldwide for polyurethane products, Lee's technical and policy advocacy experience, and proven strategic leadership skills will help position this industry to capitalise on those opportunities," said Steve Russell, vice president of the ACC's Plastics Division. "Her strategic guidance in developing new programmes, advancing advocacy objectives, and addressing emerging issues will support the customer base while contributing to new market development, he added.
"I look forward to working with CPI's leadership, members, value chain and all stakeholders to deliver value and sustainable solutions on behalf of this industry," Salamone said, in the ACC announcement.
