Buffalo, New York - Acumen Insulation & Coatings, which started out offering cellulose retrofit insulation, has added spray polyurethane foam insulation to its portfolio.
Troy Gilchrist, Acumen owner, said he has wanted to be involved in the spray foam industry for the past 10 years. Gilchrist noted that he has seen an increasing demand for spray foam over the past seven years Acumen has been in business.
"There is a stronger demand for foam," he said. "Particularly in the last two years or so. Everybody is writing foam in their specs now, even architects are starting to."
New York-based Acumen is a 'Green Jobs Green New York' contractor, part of a statewide programme aimed at promoting energy efficiency and installation of clean technologies to reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
The company currently has a rig equipped with a Graco Reactor E-30i, which it purchased about three months ago. Acumen has plans to purchase another one in the near future, Gilchrist said.
