Lincolnshire, Illinois -- ADCO Global, a manufacturer of adhesives and sealants, said 1 Sept that that its Kömmerling subsidiary in Germany has opened its new production plant in Nanjing, China. The custom-built plant will manufacture sealants and adhesives for the insulating glass (IG), solar photovoltaic, structural glazing and transport markets in China and Asia, the company said.
"This new plant is a response to the growing demands from our customers in the rapidly expanding Asian market," said Dick Spalton, managing director at Pirmasens-based Kömmerling, in an ADCO announcement. Spalton commented that demand for Kömmerling's products in the Far East continues to grow. "With the opening of this plant, we will be able to provide our customers with a far more efficient and economic supply chain, which will reduce both freight costs and delivery times."
The plant, which uses raw materials produced in Asia, already makes polysulphide and silicone for the IG market and will add polyurethane and butyl adhesives and sealants in 2011.
ADCO said this new plant complements its existing production units in the US and Germany.
