Mions, France - French company STC, a specialist in doors for clean-rooms, has launched a range of sliding (or pivoting) airtight doors with inflatable seals and also a range og one-piece airlocks. The products have both thermal and noise insulation, using wither spray polyurethane foam or rock wool.
STC said the new pivoting, airtight, bi-flush door with inflatable seal is intended for use in high-risk research laboratories and in decontamination airlocks. It is closed by an electromagnetic lock with a full-contact control plate, and incorporates both phonic and thermal insulation, the clean room specialist said. Sealing is perfect, STC claims, and door management is automatically controlled. It is suitable for Class 1 to 100 usage.
An alternative, the sliding airtight door with inflatable seal (patent filed) allows materials and large equipment to pass through and is suitable for clean rooms and controlled-environment rooms (also Class 1 to 100 usage). The system gives extremely short opening and closing times, with perfect sealing, STC said. Users can control doors automatically, the company added.
Floor sealing after closing is guaranteed by an automatic skirting. Door thickness ranges from 50 mm to 80 mm.
The service hatch (pictured) is a one-piece unit, used to transfer objects while keeping the purity and pressure requirements of clean and dry rooms. It can be made to size, and is quick and easy to install, STC said. The interlocking of the doors can be mechanical or electrical. Many extra options are available, such as UV decontamination and filtered ventilation.
STC, which is headquartered in Mions, near Lyons, in south-east France, said its products are made of electro-galvanised or stainless steel and can be adapted to fit all types of support, masonry and partitions.
A choice of pressure-injected polyurethane foam or rock wool is on offer for the door insulation.
