By Liz White, UT staffSassenheim, the Netherlands-Akzo Nobel will boost its coatings activities in Germany by buying ICI Group's wood finishes business Zweihorn GmbH, based in Hilden, for an undisclosed amount. Akzo Nobel will buy all Zweihorn shares: the Hilden facility has 55 employees and in 2004 had a turnover of about Euro 18 million ($22 million). "Zweihorn's clients and products are a good addition and form a perfect fit with our existing customers and woodcare portfolio," said Leif Abildgaard, general manager of Akzo Nobel's Decorative Coatings Europe business, in a company statement. Zweihorn, which sells mainly to the German market, is develops industrial interior wood finishes for the professional joinery sector."
