Baton Rouge, Louisiana-Albemarle Corp. is to increase its list prices for its Antiblaze brand phosphorus-based flame retardants from 1 July 2006, or as contracts allow.
Albemarle said it will raise the prices of Antiblaze TMCP flame retardant, Antiblaze 195 (TDCP) flame-retardant and blends, and Antiblaze V490 flame retardant by between 5 and 10 percent. The major flame retardants supplier will raise the prices of its Antiblaze V6 flame retardant and blends by between 10 and 15 percent.
According to Albemarle, these price increases are needed partly to help offset continuing energy and raw materials cost increases, as well as to support increased regulatory requirements.
Albemarle said its Antiblaze flame retardants help prevent fire in rigid foams used in building materials and in flexible foams used in furnishings and transport seating.
The additives supplier claims that its patents and market position in brominated, mineral and phosphorus flame-retardant technologies, together with its commitment to consumer fire safety advocacy and product stewardship make Albemarle the world leader in flame retardant solutions for polymers."
