Rafz, Switzerland – Alfa Klebstoffe has opened a competence centre for foam bonding at its HQ in Switzerland. The opening ceremony was performed online in early June.
The Simalfa Competence Center has a total area of more than 300m2, spread across two floors, and focuses on the water-based bonding of foam. It is designed to map the entire bonding process on a production scale, and includes a full-size roller line as well as spray equipment. This allows processes such as the production of a mattress to be reproduced, from the cut foam parts to the final roll-packed end product.
The centre will allow customers and potential customers to test, compare and evaluate Simalfa adhesives without having to interrupt their own operations. Samples to be bonded can be sent to the centre in advance, and bonded with the customer present or via videolink. ‘This service is a market first, and offers customers enormous time savings and security, and also financial benefits,’ the company said.
Alfa Klebstoffe says that with so many trade shows being cancelled and postponed during the pandemic, it took the opportunity to invest in the centre instead of exhibition stands. ‘We believe this is the best way to provide the most added value to our customers, not only in these challenging times, but also in the future,’ said marketing manager Domenico Schwarz.
