Troy, Michigan – Product development specialist Altair has acquired S&Wise, a Seoul-based provider of polyurethane foaming simulation. Altair says the acquisition will allow it to offer customers advanced solutions for PU foam processing.
The Korean company’s technology simulates tine injection, foaming and gelling processes, accounting for the effects of chemical reactions during the process. An enhanced version of its solver is to be released within Altair Inspire PolyFoam.
The company claims this will allow customers to check the feasibility of manufacturing early on, and reduce manufacturing defects. It should also allow cycle times to be reduced by designing accurate gating locations and feed rates. The package includes a material database of commonly used foaming and tooling materials.
'We are thrilled to join the global powerhouse that is Altair,' said Lee Sungyoon, CEO and founder of S&Wise. 'Our solutions will bolster their already outstanding portfolio of solvers and solutions.'
