London - News reports from the US say that the company that supplied foam blamed for contributing to a fire at a Rhode Island nightclub in which 100 people died is to pay $6.3 million to survivors and to relatives of victims.
American Foam Corp. of Johnston, Rhode-Island supplied sound-proofing foam to the The Station nightclub. Fireworks used by the band, Great White, ignited the foam, causing the tragedy, on 20 Feb 2003.
While an investigation has not revealed the identity of which of American Foam's many suppliers made the material, a group of foam manufacturers was also reported to have settled earlier in the year, offering $30 million to survivors and relatives of those who died.
