From Tire BusinessBoulder City, Nevada -- Polyurethane (PU) tyre proponent Amerityre Corp. has developed a closed-cell PU-based commercial tyre fill system for "flat-proofing" tyres that it claims can reduce the weight and cost of filled tyres.Amerityre's Amerifill is based on the company's work with PU chemical formulations based on MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate). The company claims in its 24 Aug statement that these formulations are stable and environmentally safe.Amerityre estimates that the tyre fill market consumes more than 250 million pounds (113 400 tonnes) of material annually, with significant growth opportunities emerging in developing countries.Testing has shown Amerifill outperforms comparable materials in a number of ways, including load-bearing, cool running and durability, according to Amerityre president Gary Benninger.Amerifill materials are compatible with most tyre fill equipment in use today, Amerityre said. The company plans to market Amerifill products and delivery systems globally through strategic partners and distributors."
