Corona, California -- Memory foam mattress manufacturer Anatomic Global has donated 500 specially-designed mattresses to displaced Haitians, following the 12 Jan earthquake that struck Haiti.
Constructed using visco-memory foam and conventional foam, the cot-sized mattresses are encased in a rugged vinyl and nylon cover to provide moisture resistance during the upcoming rainy season. The mattresses are also designed to be easily carried and secured and can be carried over the shoulder, a 25 Jan statement from Anatomic Global said.
One of Anatomic Global's suppliers, Parakletos International, has already supplied the first of the "WorldBeds" to a clinic in Jacmel, Southern Haiti, and will be receiving a further shipment of 500 of the beds this week. Other suppliers joining the relief effort are FXI Foamex Innovations, UPS, Deslee Textiles USA, Royal Packaging and the Brookwood companies. California-based Anatomic Global expects to continue shipping the transitional mattresses until it reaches its target of 200 000 units.
The company said it will reinvest all of its corporate profits from all operations for the first quarter of 2010 into manufacturing WorldBeds for Haitian relief.
"We welcome everyone to join with us in this critical project. We have developed the specifications, manufacturing and logistical programme and welcome the participation of others in this effort," said Anatomic Global ceo David Farley. (RD)"
