Hefei, Anhui – Chinese PU leather maker Anli Material Technology has signed on as an Apple supplier, providing synthetic leather for the tech giant’s products and accessories.
The company has been in talks with Apple and working on product development since March 2019, it said. Apple and its OEM plants will place consecutive monthly orders said Anli. Orders for August 2020 were worth CNY22m ($3.2m). This is equivalent to 13% of its sales in August 2019 or 1.3% of its total 2019 sales.
Over the first half of 2020, Anli's revenue was CNY553m, down by 31% year on year due to coronavirus. The fall in revenue lead to a net loss of CNY16m, compared with CNY18m net profit a year ago.
Orders have been picking up since June, though, said the company.
Anli had 81.5km/year capacity for PU leather and 70kT/year for PU resin.
