Red Bank, New Jersey -- Medical and protective glove maker Ansell has added a new glove which it claims gives wearers "a barehand-like sensation without compromising cut protection or performance."
This ultralight HyFlex 11-518 glove is rated for ANSI Cut Level 2 protection, making it ideal for precision handling and assembly of sharp, dry, ultra-fine parts, the company said, in a press release.
Ansell claims this is the first glove in the market to combine the mechanical protection properties of ANSI Cut Level 2 - associated with heavier duty gloves - and be comfortable, cut-resistant and multipurpose, in 18-gauge thickness.
The glove is made using Dyneema Diamond Technology's fine, 220 denier, cut-resistant yarn, applied using Ansell 3D knitting technology and finished with a tough polyurethane coating, to give the ANSI Cut Level 2 and ANSI Abrasion Level 3.
According to Ansell, trials showed the lightweight, breathable fit and feel was preferred by nearly 70 percent of workers now using heavier gloves for similar tasks.
Scott Corriveau, president of Ansell's Industrial Global Business Unit, said the new glove confirms Ansell's commitment to help "protect workers and to increase productivity," offering a lightweight glove that "maximises dexterity, tactility and protection."
