Baltimore, Maryland - Applied Coating Systems Inc. is to distribute Line-X Industrial Coatings, a range of instant-set polyurethane/polyurea hybrid coatings for corrosion protection for metals and wear resistance for most substrates.Line-X, which has a significant business in spray-on truck bedliners, says its patented coating "provides many benefits in military and industrial settings." These advantages include prolonged life with reduced maintenance and repair needs and enhanced employee safety, the firm said.Baltimore-based Applied Coating Systems will offer customers the Line-X formula to protect substrates including roofs, stairways, parking structures, bridges, tunnels, roadways and ship decks. "The product has a strong brand reputation, and we expect it to be a good fit for our existing customers across many military and commercial segments," said Ronald Kaufmann, president of Applied Coating Systems, in a company statement. The company said the patented PU/polyurea coating has a proven track record in extreme environments, for marine and military applications, on ships, submarines and Humvees. Applied Coating Systems will initially focus on exploting Line-X's flexibility and wear resistance in military uses, for bomb blast mitigation and chemical containment.Line-X coatings were invented by Claudio Burtin, a principal in the Line-X company, which claims to be "the leading spray-on bedliner company in the US."
