Romulus, Michigan -- APS Elastomers has developed a hard thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that is easier to extrude than previously available TPUs, said the company in a press release.
The company said its new series of TPUs offer the extrudability of softer grades but with the advantages of hard TPUs.
Stephane Morin, APS owner, said: "The specially formulated TPU enables a thinner wall for tubing, which requires less material thereby allowing significant cost savings for tubing manufacturers."
Additionally, the TPUs have high burst pressures, shore hardness from 50D to 74D and improved extrusion output without loss of melt viscosity or crystallisation in the die or on the screw, said Morin.
