New York -- Royal Holdings Inc., a holding company of Arsenal Capital Partners, said 13 Dec that it has acquired the stock of Adhesives Packaging Specialties Inc. (APS). The deal was done through the group's Royal Packaging Specialties subsidiary.
Based in Peabody, Massachusetts, APS custom packages one- and two-component adhesives, sealants and resins including acrylic, anaerobic materials, conductive, epoxy, polysulphide, polyurethanes, premixed frozen syringes, UV-curable and other polymers. These are used in a wide variety of industries, such as aerospace, automotive, computers, construction, electronics and telecommunications. APS is an ISO 9001: 2008 and AS9100C registered facility.
"We are excited to acquire the market-leading and most innovative custom packager that will serve as a standalone platform to build a larger business dedicated to improving our domestic and international customers process for packaging, mixing and applying adhesives and sealants that are specified for use in their end products," said Ted Clark, chief executive officer of Royal Holdings.
This is the group's fourth acquisition in the last two years. Royal bought Craig Adhesives, a supplier of UV-cured adhesives and coatings, in November 2011, followed in April 2012 by the addition of Extreme Adhesives, a supplier of reactive assembly adhesives, and Clifton Adhesives, a specialist in adhesives and coatings using thermoplastic polyurethane and elastomers for fabricating inflatable structures, in May 2012.
John Televantos, of Arsenal Capital who co-heads the firm's Specialty Industrial practice said, "APS fits well with our strategy and provides a strong platform for us to develop a larger and more geographically diverse custom packaging business that serves the domestic and international Adhesives and Sealant industry".
APS has "an industry leading reputation for quality and service, which is critical to support the trend towards more efficient packaging, mixing and application of structural and assembly adhesives and sealants," commented Tim Zappala, a partner at Arsenal Capital who co-heads the firm's Specialty Industrial practice.
APS president Stephen Buchanan stated, "We are very pleased to partner with Ted Clark and Arsenal who have significant experience in the custom packaging segment of the adhesives and sealants Industry and will help us develop and grow the unique and innovative packaging business model that APS has developed as a result of more than 30 years in the custom adhesives and sealants packaging business."
APS was founded by Melvin Lawson a chemist and adhesives industry veteran, and begun custom packaging single- and multi-component resin materials in 1977. Applications using APS products vary from minor repair kits to sophisticated manufacturing processes such as conductive materials used on semiconductors.
