Bethesda, Maryland -- The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) supported the 2012 Adhesion Society Outstanding Young Adhesion Scientist Award and presented a plaque and $1000 grant to Dr Frank DelRio, this year's award recipient. DelRio is a scientist at the Material Measurement Laboratory within the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
The Award was presented during the Adhesion Society's Annual Meeting held 26-29 Feb 2012 at the Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans.
The Society's Outstanding Young Adhesion Scientist Award recognises emerging research talent that focuses on properties of adhesion. DelRio has spent considerable time focusing on a variety of adhesive research, and has published many papers between 2005 and 2011.
ASC said that DelRio continues his focus on adhesives, committing time and energy on investigating ways to minimise adhesives failures with emerging micro- and nano-scale systems in both dry and wet environments.
