AvtoVAZ, Russia's flagship automotive producer, has announced a partnership with German BASF to develop automotive parts for its Russian Lada cars.
According to AvtoVAZ's plans, the new auto components be of a better quality, which is expected to improve the quality of Lada cars in terms of energy efficiency, weight, colour and environmental performance.
Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
BASF already provides AvtoVAZ with its enamels for the cars' body's painting.
According to the Russian Autostat analytical agency, the volume of the Russian market for automotive components is expected to reach Euro 28 000 million this year. A large share of components for foreign cars in Russia is imported from abroad.
The annual volume of purchases of imported components by Russian car manufacturers is estimated at Roubles 60 000-80 000 million (Euro 1400-1900 million).
