BASF and China’s Wiskind cooperate on PU insulation panels

These panels are to be aimed at markets in cold chain logistics and livestock buildings.
Under the partnership, BASF will be responsible for PU material development and testing, and Wiskind will provide technical support. Wiskind also takes charge of product development and production. Both will promote metal panels.
Headquartered in Binzhou, Shandong, Wiskind has supplied metal building enclosures since 1978. The company started up a new line for PU refrigeration panels last year.
The new line has 2m m2/year capacity and can produce panels up to 300 mm thick. It is a continuous plant and features a 42 m double belt. Wiskind said that it is the longest among Chinese facilities of its kind. The company added that it chose a long line because it gives ample time for curing and improves the foam's performance.
In addition, BASF said it will develop insulation material under the label Elastopir with improved fire-resistance properties for the new line.
