Heidelberg, Germany – BASF 3D Printing Solutions is supplying Ultracur3D polyurethane photopolymer to Paxis. The Illinois-based company is using it in its Wave Applied Voxel (WAV) 3D printing process.
WAV technology is currently in development. Trapped volume is a common problem with liquid resin-based printing methods; WAV can avoid this, Praxis claims.
Arnaud Guedou, business director for photopolymer solutions at BASF 3D Printing Solutions, said that the Praxis technology extends the potential of additive manufacturing. ‘Equipment and processes can meet to requirements that were unimaginable in additive manufacturing,' he said. 'BASF’s innovative photopolymer materials are a perfect match for Paxis WAV technology.’
At the moment, Paxis is focusing is on commercial manufacturing. Applications include the aerospace, automotive, dental and medical sectors, where it is looking for new advanced manufacturing opportunities.
