Beijing - A range of BASF products and solutions will be used for a variety of purposes in this year's Olympic games in Beijing, the company announced 28 July.
Referring to the role of polyurethane in athlete's shoes, the company said, "a key component is Elastollan, a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer made by BASF subsidiary Elastogran. It is used amongst other things for soles protective caps, stiffening and damping elements and makes shoes flexible, light and extremely stress-resistant."
The company also said it is developing components for functional textiles, such as thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), which is used in breathable sports and leisure wear textiles.
