Lukang Town, Taiwan-- BASF has bought the the business and assets of thermoplastic polyurethane company Taiwan Sheen Soon in Taiwan and mainland China.
TWSS makes TPU for solvent-based and hot melt adhesives as well as grades for injection, extrusion, blown film and ink.
TWSS' website claims capacity of 25,000 tonne/year and exports to over 25 countries.
No further details were disclosed.
Taiwan Sheen Soon was established in July, 1997 and production started in 1998. In August, 2005, the factory was moved to a new plant with 12,000m² area and with capacity of 8,000 T/year.
In 2009, the firm started a cooperation with Pou Chen Group through an investment in TWSS' subsidiary, Zhongshan Baothane Technology in Guangdong, China. This plant has capacity of 5,000 T/year. Production capacity in Taiwan is currently 20,kT/year and the plant covers 24,000m².
Pou Chen Group claims to be the world's largest manufacturer of branded athletic and casual footwear and claims to be an an OEM for major brands such as Nike, adidas, Reebok, Asics, New Balance, Puma, Converse, Merrell, Salomon, and Timberland.
