Shanghai, China – BASF is expecting operation of its new Elastollan TPU facilities in July 2014 and its Cellasto microcellular PU elastomer facilities in 2015, both at the its Shanghai base. It also completed PA and PBT expansions at the same site in June.
The company’s TPU capacity is expected to increase by over 50% this July, and its Cellasto capacity should double when the project is complete due to the addition of three production lines. BASF refused to disclose accurate capacity figures or investment amount for the two projects.
According to the company, there is a double-digit million Euro investment for engineering plastics compounds and TPU facilities. It is also planning to pump EUR10bn ($13.5bn) into the Asia Pacific region between 2013 and 2020, around half of which is earmarked for China.
