Changhua, Taiwan - BASF has started expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (E-TPU) material production facility at Changhua. The company is making Infinergy-brand materials at the site.
BASF expands E-TPU, Changhua site commence production

The expansion is in line with rising demand for E-TPU in the Asia Pacific region, said the company. BASF added that the new site is closer to its existing clients in the area.
Jens Dierssen is head of global business management Infinergy, at BASF. He said in a statement, 'We are expanding our global footprint to better serve customers within the Asia Pacific region.'
The closed-cell, lightweight elastic particle foam has wide application in the sphere of transportation, furniture, construction and sports equipment like bicycle saddles.
BASF did not share details of investment nor new capacity of the expanded site.
The Ludwigshafen, Germany-headquartered company said the Asia Pacific region registered sales of EUR 14.3 bn in 2017.
The company's functional materials and solutions segment emerged as the biggest sales, accounting for 36% of the total.
Overall, the company said that the Greater China market accounts for a 51% share of its business in the Asia Pacific region.
