Ludwigshafen, Germany – BASF is expanding its collaboration with 3D printing technology specialist Materialise. The German chemicals giant is to invest $25 m in the Belgian company.
The aim of the collaboration is to improve materials and software for 3D printing technologies, and bring them more rapidly to market. The focus is on applications in the consumer goods, automotive and aviation industries.
‘Our cooperation will put us in an even better position to find and develop new business opportunities,’ said Volker Hammes, managing director of BASF 3D Printing Solutions.
‘We are confident that this collaboration will help accelerate the adoption of 3D-printing in vertical markets and create significant business opportunities,’ added Fried Vancraen, CEO at Materialise.
