Ulsan, Korea – BASF increased capacity for polyols here by 13 kT/year at the end of September.
The company did not specify the investment at the plant which opened in 1998.
New capacity will help meet growing demand for the polyols from appliance and industrial applications, BASF said. It added that some of the new capacity is going towards a supply contract with Hyundai.
BASF has been supplying its Elastoflex systems to Hyundai to make seats since 2018. The site has been using it exclusively for the application, said BASF.
Independent tests show system generates 30% less VOC emissions than earlier formulations.
