Chongqing – BASF inaugurated its wholly-owned 400kT/year MDI project in Chongqing on 19 September.
BASF executives including Albert Heuser, president of Greater China and Functions Asia Pacific, as well as the mayor of Chongqing Huang Qifan and other government officials attended the ceremony.
The MDI project has RMB8bn ($1.25bn) investment. It was approved by Chinese authorities in 2011 and mechanically completed in July 2014.
The site’s production will be ramped up gradually in line with market demand, according to BASF.
