Ludwigshafen, Germany -BASF is increasing its prices for the polyurethane intermediates ethylene carbonate and propylene carbonate worldwide by €120 per tonne in Europe and $170 per tonne in NAFTA and Asia.
This rise is to take effect immediately or as contracts allow, BASF said in its 19 Oct announcement.
These price adjustments are necessary to support BASF's "ongoing efforts to assure the highest levels of product and service quality to its customers globally in times of continued increases in raw materials and energy costs," the group said.
As well as use in the polyurethanes sector, the chemical intermediates are used in a wide range of applications in the lubricants, foundry, and coatings industries, BASF said.
The company said it is a leading manufacturer of the materials, and operates a world-scale plant for them at its Verbund site in Ludwigshafen.
