Tokyo, Japan - BASF INOAC has appointed Kazuya Murakami as its new president and representative director, from 1 July 2008, the company said 30 June.
Murakami joined BASF Japan in 1986 and became technical manager of the MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) Technical Department, then general manager of its Non-Rigid Foam System Division, BASF INOAC, and has been vice president of BASF INOAC Polyurethanes since 2005.
The previous BASF INOAC Polyurethanes president Hideyuki Hirota will become a board member of the INOAC Corporation for Strategic Planning and Technology, and will also remain a non-executive director, the company said. Masayuki Inoue will take over as vice president BASF INOAC Polyurethanes.
BASF INOAC Polyurethanes Ltd, a 50-50 joint venture between INOAC Corp. and BASF Japan Ltd, is based in Shinshiro, Aici, and employs 162 staff. The company sells polyurethane elastomer systems as well as offering MDI and other polyurethane foam systems.
