Rosario, Argentina – Maincal, a local footwear producer, is using BASF's Infinergy expanded TPU in the mid-sole of a range of safety shoes.
The footwear is designed for people who spend a lot of time on their feet, particularly those who work in the automotive, logistics and food sectors. Pablo Cali, Maincal's commercial director, said he believes that using the BASF material will help the company with its expansion plans for international markets.
As well as Infinergy mid-soles, the shoes feature BASF's Elastopan for the soles and Ultralight polyurethane to reduce the shoes' weight. An aluminium toe cap helps reduce the weight further. Thet are designed to be versatile so that they can be worn on the way to and from work, Maincal said .
The Voran SportSafe line, Energy 420G, won the best in show award at the US NSC Congress & Expo last year.
