Florham Park, New Jersey - BASF is to increase its list and off-list prices of its polyalcohols, and diols and derivatives in North America from 1 Apr 2011, or as contracts allow.
The polyalcohol increases are 1,6 hexanediol (HDO) by $0.15 per pound, epsilon-caprolactone (CLO) by $0.10 per pound, all grades of neopentylglycol (Neol®) by $0.07 per pound and hydroxypivalic acid neopentylglycolester (HPN) by $0.20 per pound.
These increases are in addition to the previously implemented $0.10 per pound for CLO and $0.05 per pound for NPG effective 11 Jan 2011.
Butanediol (BDO), tetrahydrofuran (THF), gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), and N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) costs will go up by $0.10 per pound. List and off-list prices for polytetramethylene ether glycol (PolyTHF) will be increased by $0.16 per pound.
Butanediol and its derivatives are used for producing engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibres.
The changes for all the above products will come into force on 1 Apr, or as contracts allow.
