Ludwigshafen, Germany - BASF has announced that it is raising prices worldwide for the following Lupragen catalysts for use in making polyurethane foams;
Lupragen N100 (Dimethylcyclohexylamine) + Euro 0.05/kg
Lupragen N103 (Dimethylbenzylamine) + Euro 0.15/kg
Lupragen N104 (N-Ethylmorpholine) + Euro 1.50/kg
Lupragen N105 (N-Methylmorpholine) + Euro 0.40/kg
Lupragen N204 (1,4-Dimethylpiperazine) + Euro 0.10/kg
Lupragen N400 (Trimethylaminoethyl-ethanolamine) + Euro 0.50/kg
Lupragen DMI (Dimethylimidazole) + Euro 0.50/kg
Catalysts are required in polyurethanes to facilitate the reaction of the isocyanate and polyol components to form polymers, said BASF's statement, adding that the particular catalyst required depends on the desired properties of the PU foam.
BASF has more than 20 PU catalysts in its range, which the company claims makes it a world leader in this segment. The Germany-headquartered group produces PU catalysts in Ludwigshafen and in Geismar, Louisiana.
