Lemfoerde, the Netherlands -- BASF Polyurethanes has developed a new polyurea system that can reduce the noise of heavy deliveries in urban areas by 6 decibels, a recent company statement said.
New noise regulations in the Netherlands have called for reduced noise levels during business deliveries in busy town centres, prompting BASF to develop the "loading surface whisper" polyurea system, the statement said.
Applying a 5-mm coating of the polyurea system, Elastocoat C, onto a loading platform's noisy bumpy surface can reduce noise levels by 6 decibels, BASF said.
The coating will protect against abrasion, it reduces rolling friction from pallet vehicles and can also be easily cleaned, the statement said.
Suitable for applications including lorry loading areas, lifting platforms, loading ramps and all kinds of metal or steel floors, the coating can be applied in 45 minutes for a surface of 30-sq.m (323-sq.ft), BASF added.
