Ludwigshafen, Germany — BASF saw sales in the first quarter of 2017 in its performance products segment grow by 9% compared with q1 2016 to EUR 4.3 bn.
The firm said that this was the result of increased volumes in the Dispersions & Pigments, Care Chemicals and Performance Chemicals divisions.
The segment experienced positive currency effects in all divisions and slightly raised sales prices overall. Portfolio effects dampened sales development. EBIT before special items declined by EUR 40 m to EUR 515 m.
Overall sales were EUR 16.9 bn in the quarter up 19% on the EUR 14.2 bn recorded in the first quarter of 2016.
