Florham Park, New Jersey--BASF Corp. announced 21 March that its TDI (toluene diisocyanate) plant in Geismar, Louisiana, is once again making TDI products.
The plant was shut down in late January due a mechanical failure, and this was originally expected to last through the end of March.
Ken Lane, director of Urethane Chemicals, said that customers have been told that BASF is now able to supply TDI, but added that an allocation remains in place.
"BASF worked diligently to correct the problem and restored full production of the TDI unit ahead of schedule. Our customers are aware of the amount of TDI we are able to supply to them at this point," he said, in a company statement. "
