BASF to expand systems capacity in Guangzhou

    Guangzhou, Guangdong – BASF  plans to up its capacity for systems and other polyurethane materials at its factory here.

    According to the latest environmental impact notice in December 2018, the factory is located in the city’s Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone.

    The filing adds that before expansion BASF has the following at the site.

    • Four polyol systems lines with 14kT/year capacity;
    • Four isocyanate systems lines with 13kT/year capacity;
    • Three polyester polyol lines with 18kT/year capacity; and
    • Two PU block lines with 3m unit/year capacity.

    The German company plans to upgrade existing facilities, optimise production process and increase utilisation, according to the filing.

    The upgrade will increase polyols systems up to 23kT/year; isocyanate systems to, 22kT/year; polyester polyols up to 25kT/year and PU buffer blocks to 9m unit/year.

    In total the German company expects to invest CNY 2m and will add 40 employees to the current staff headcount of 118.

    In addition, the  Guangzhou site also comprises the company's Asia Footwear Technical Center and a plant for its PU elastomer line Cellasto.
