Florham Park, New Jersey -- BASF has announced price increases for a range of oxo-alcohols of $0.05 per pound. The group said 18 May that it will increase all list and off-list selling prices for normal butanol, isobutanol, 2-ethylhexanol, 2-propyl heptanol, pentanol mix and pentanol mix derivatives (pentyl acetate and isobutanol pentanol blend) in North America.
The price rise will take effect 1 June 2009, or as contracts permit. BASF said the increases are due to elevated operating costs.
The oxo-alcohols are used as solvents for coatings and adhesives, as plasticisers for wire and cable uses and as additives for lubricating oils, amongst other applications.
