Florham Park, New Jersey -- BASF is increasing prices in North America by $0.08 per pound for butanediol (BDO). Prices for Gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) and N-ethylpyrrolidone (NEP) will be increased by $0.10 per pound, while prices for tetrahydrofuran (THF) and polytetramethylene ether glycol (PolyTHF) will be increased by $0.12 per pound.
The increases apply to list and off list prices and take effect 1 Oct 2011, or as contracts allow, BASF said.
Butanediol and its derivatives are used for producing engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibres.
