Florham Park, New Jersey -- BASF will increase its off-list prices in the US, Canada and Mexico by $0.03 per pound for 1,4 butanediol (BDO), tetrahydrofuran (THF), PolyTHF [poly(tetramethylene ether)glycol], gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) and N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP).
The increases take effec 1 July 2009, or as contracts allow.
BDO and its derivatives are used to make polyurethanes, engineering plastics, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibres (PolyTHF). BASF claims to be the world's leading producer of butanediol and its derivatives, with seven plants on three continents.
