Ludwigshafen, Germany – BASF has increased capacity for aliphatic HDI oligomers used in coating and adhesive applications at its plant in Ludwigshafen.

No capacity details were available, but BASF said, 'Markets are growing above GDP and BASF wants to participate in this growth.'
The company confirmed that aliphatic oligomer production is separate from the site's TDI production. That is expected to come on stream in the first half of the year.
The new capacity will supply customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, BASF added.
Basonat HDI materials are hardeners used in coatings for industrial, automotive and flooring sectors. They can also be used in adhesives.
Ulf Neidlein, is BASF's European vice president of resins and additives. He said the expansion was 'our way of responding to increasing demand for specialties in aliphatic polyisocyanates and strengthening our delivery reliability'.
