Freudenberg, Germany -- Albrecht Bauemer GmbH & Co. KG, a fabricator of foam conversion machinery and equipment, has noted a "significant revival" in the foam industry and is forecasting a positive 2010, a 3 March company statement said.
Bauemer said it has had to lay off 38 members of staff at the beginning of 2010, but sees this as a forward-thinking measure. "We are well-positioned now for the future with a lean, more efficient and flexible working practice -- that is how we will be able to meet our customers' requirements better than ever before," said Bauemer president, Helmut Kritzler, in a company statement.
Bauemer sales director Harald Kullman said the high number of projects the company has underway shows optimism for the furniture, mattress and packing industry. "We have noticed that our customers are now considering capital expenditure again," Kullman said.
The German company has expanded its sales team and is now focusing on growing markets such as China, India, North Africa and Russia, the statement said.
Bauemer also said that Philipp Schuster will take over leadership of its US subsidiary, Bauemer of America, from April 2010. (RD)
