Leverkusen, Germany-Having recently set up a polyurethane systems house joint venture in Dubai, Bayer MaterialScience AG announced 22 Nov that is also to set up an innovation centre in Dubai, to respond to the "rapidly growing importance of markets in the Middle East."
This facility for high-quality polymer materials in the region will offer technical service, development of new applications, and training for customers and employees, said a Bayer statement. The centre will support the company's Regional Head Office in Dubai with regional customer support.
"The new facility will also supplement the existing Innovation Centers of Bayer MaterialScience in Leverkusen, Barcelona, Amagasaki, Pittsburgh and Sao Paulo as well as the recently expanded Polymer Research and Development Center in Shanghai and will cooperate with them intensively", commented Ian Paterson, BMS board member responsible for marketing and innovation, in BMS's announcement."
The foundation of the new innovation center is a clear signal that we are investing in the development of future markets. This step brings us even closer to our customers and allows us to strengthen our focus on their requirements," added Raul Pires, project manager for the Dubai Innovation Center.
The centre, now being set up in BMS' offices in Dubai, is scheduled to open at the start of 2007, but in 2008, it will relocate, together with the newly-founded systems joint venture BaySystems Pearl, to a new, integrated Bayer MaterialScience site in Dubai. As well as a high-quality showroom the unit will have an office complex for technically trained employees in BMS businesses including Polyurethanes, Polycarbonates, Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Thermoplastic Polyurethanes.
"As the region's hub, Dubai offers the best conditions for offering optimum support to customers, consultants and other decision-makers in the Middle East," commented Stephan Rosenthal, senior country representative for BMS in the Middle East. "
