Leverkusen, Germany -- The International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA)has honoured a film product from Bayer MaterialScience with one of the ICMA Élan Awards, BMS said in a 31 May announcement.
An independent panel of experts from the ID card industry judged the company's film Makrofol ID 320 Antiscratch to be the top innovation in the category Best Vendor New Product, Equipment or Material. The ICMA Élan Awards are considered the most prestigious honour in the card business, BMS said.
The Makrofol film is provided with a particularly scratch- and chemical-resistant protective coating. "The film makes it possible to produce cards that are longer-lasting than ever before. "This is more than just a quality advantage; it also helps to conserve resources," said Cengiz Yesildag, from the ID card business at Bayer MaterialScience.
The ICMA EXPO in Hollywood, Florida, was the setting for the awards ceremony at which the association recognised members for the most innovative new developments in terms of design quality and technical progress. The award-winning products are expected to have a major influence on security card production in the future.
The ICMA is the world's largest association for ID cards. Its members include companies that produce, personalise and issue cards, and also suppliers of materials for the production of ID cards.
