Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- Bayer MaterialScience llc said 16 Jan that its longstanding commitment to sustainability had led to its recently receipt of the Johnson Controls Sustainability Leadership Performance Award.
Johnson Controls is a global automotive seat and interiors supplier that recognises its top- suppliers annually for sustainability, innovation and automotive products.
"It really is quite an honour to be recognised by one of the premier automotive industry suppliers," said Bill Worms, vice president, Polyurethane Raw Material Sales, Bayer MaterialScience. "At Bayer, sustainability shapes our operations, our products and how we do business. We are happy to see our efforts align with our customer's goals as well."
BMS supplies the auto parts producer with isocyanates and base and polymer polyols used to produce polyurethane cushioning for lightweight vehicle headrests and seats.
Judging for the award covers factors including:
--Embracing sustainability as a core value of the company
--Executive ownership for sustainability related initiatives
--Complying with sustainability laws and regulations
--Lowering carbon footprint; participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project
--Top tier scores in the Johnson Controls Supplier Scorecard for Sustainability

Global key account manager for Bayer, Greg Stawara, accepted the award on behalf of Bayer at Johnson Controls' annual North American Supplier Performance Awards ceremony held in Plymouth, Michigan.
