Leverkusen, Germany-Bayer MaterialScience AG is to raise the price of all grades of its Desmopan thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) in Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Latin America by Euro0.30/kg, with efect from 1 May 2005."Persistently high demand for feedstocks has led to furthersignificant increases in raw material costs," said the BMS statement on the price hike. A price rise is essential to balance out "the consistent erosion of margins," said BMS. It is also needed to allow the group to continue providing technical service and further develop its products to meet future market need, the firm added."
