Salt Lake City, Utah -- Bayer MaterialScience announced that production and shipment of its Arcol PPG-2000 polyether polyol has begun at its facility in Channelview, Texas.
According to the firm, this marks the first application of its continuous Impact process for the manufacture of coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE) polyether polyols.
Craig Caputo, Bayer MaterialScience vice president of polyols product management, said the announcement is timely, as global polyol demand is projected to grow while supply for various grades of these specialty polyols appear to tighten.
"By investing in our Channelview manufacturing site - which is Bayer's largest polyol site - Bayer MaterialScience is positioned to support the market while simultaneously providing a product that comes with all of the advantages of the innovative continuous IMPACT technology," he said.
Arcol PPG-2000 polyol, a 2000-molecular-weight diol, is used in a broad range of applications, including construction adhesives, windshield sealants and specialty foams.
